The Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association and the Songwriters' Association of Washington present Sol Roots - This is one concert that Alexandria visitors and locals will not want to miss! Sol is a world-class guitarist, songwriter, and recording artist who is frequently on world tours with MusicMaker.org, a humanitarian organization that supports elderly blues musicians who need food, clothing, and shelter. At the Athenaeum concert, Sol will demonstrate a variety of fingerpicking styles at which he excels, and he will play an array of original, traditional, and "cover" songs running the gamut from various styles of jazz to blues, bossa nova, funk, and reggae. He is a jaw-dropper and a delight to hear! Take two scoops of funk; throw in a healthy serving of reggae; stir in a few large cups of deep Piedmont blues; throw in a pinch of Latin flavor for spice, and top it off with some old school r&b. Shake it up and you've got the music of Sol. Sol is a rare, one of a kind musician. His talent stretches from fiery rock to laid-back jazz, and from funky innovative grooves to soulful ballads, always drawing on a deep background in blues. Sol began his musical experiences gigging with blues luminaries such as Guitar Gabriel, Captain Luke, and Macavine Hayes. While earning a degree in the Recording Industry, Sol performed extensively throughout Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Mississippi fronting his own blues and rock bands. Paying homage to the greats, Sol seeks to bring Roots Music to a new generation of listeners. www.sol-roots.com - Concert at 7pm – Tickets $10.00 at NVFAA.ORG and at the door. Athenaeum one block south of King & Lee Sts Trolley Stop in Old Town.
